Resolved Question

I was ready to send an item I sold on eBay to a buyer but I got a message from PayPal saying that the?

payment was unauthorised. Therefore I didn't send the item (PayPal told me not to).
This happened on 5th December, so I didn't check the transaction again until today when the buyer sent a message asking what was keeping their item.
I've just checked the PayPal transaction and it says this: The funds that were placed on temporary hold are now available for use
I'm not sure what this means? Do I send the item and have I received the money?

Additional Details

Thanks for all answers. I find PayPal rather confusing!

When you use paypal, if you are unauthorised you can only spend something like £500 before you have to authorise your account.
If the new message says the funds are now available then that means that they have paid you. Check your paypal balance to see if the funds are there. If they are then send the items.

  • hi i take it you have a paypal account so go into your account and check to see if the money is in your account if so paypal should then say safe to post item temporary hold just means they tried to pay for the item but it did not happen for reasons that could be having to change the currency from one to the other or their bank card details were not up to date
    nothing to worry about

  • Agree with the 2 previous answers. Just to add that explaining the situation to the buyer may help you get better feedback!
  • check your bank statment or go down to the bank and ask if the money was transferred in and if not then open an unpaid items case
