Is my wife entitled to a p60,every year?she has worked at the same business for 33 years.?

ladies hairdressers,and the boss seems to not know when to retire.even though the clientele are reducing year after year.would my wife be entitled to severance pay,if the job was to finish abruptly?

Previous answer is almost correct. Your wife is entitled to redundancy pay, no matter what her contract states. At the minimum she would be entitled to the statutory rate.
If she has not been receiving P60's. she needs to remind her employer that its an offence not to provide one if she is liable to tax.

  • If your wife is employed by the hairdresser and has tax and NI deducted at source (PAYE) then she should receive a P60 sometime after the end of each tax year. As far as the severance pay is concerned, it depends on the contract she signed with her employer but, usually, if she is made redundant after such a long period of continuous employment with the same company then, yes; BUT if the shop or company has ever changed name then her employment entitlement will start from that date.
