yes there are a quite a few, you can use business link's grants directory to find something suitable http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/act… but also be sure to let your jobcentre adviser know that you want to get off benefits and start self-employment (as well as start-up help they can also access discretionary pots of money to help you, so get on their good side!)

you could also try http://www.turn2us.org.uk/information__r…

plus if you're under 30 then the prince's trust is a good idea for business grants & support to set up your own business as you also get a mentor to guide you through the early days http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/need_hel…

best of luck with your plans

  • I don't know of any charities that give grants but there is a lot of govenrment funding available for new business startups.

Get in touch with your local Business Link (assuming you're in the UK) who will be able to put you in touch with the various funding bodies.

Your bank may also be able to advise and will offer you free banking for a period of time.

  • Do you like in the UK

If so, contact your job centre who have business advisors who will guide you through the process

Grants are available from them ,for the unemployed, and those on JSA
as long as you fit their criteria

You need to write up a Business Plan first, then you can make progress
